The Foundation Phase (Grades R–3) is the threshold of your child's formal education. We focus on establishing a solid grounding in literacy, numeracy, and life skills within a supportive South African context.
Grade R
The Start of the Journey
At Riviera Primary, Grade R serves as an important bridge between the early childhood years and formal schooling. Through a nurturing, play-based approach, we help every child develop social confidence, independence, and the foundational skills needed for future academic success.
Coding and Robotics
Introducing logical thinking, creativity, sequencing, and problem-solving through age-appropriate activities.
English Home Language
Building communication, listening, reading, and early writing skills.
Life Skills
Encouraging personal growth, social development, creativity, physical well-being, and environmental awareness.​
Mathematics
Developing number sense, problem-solving, patterns, measurement, and spatial awareness.
Uniform
Grade R learners wear their own comfortable home clothes together with the official Grade R shirt and a pair of denim jeans.

Please ensure that all clothing and personal belongings are clearly labeled. A spare set of clothes should also be kept in your child's school bag at all times for emergencies.
